ENJOY AND DISCOVERY THE BIRDWATCHING IN CHICAQUE NATURE RESERVE
Morning (5:30am):
We will depart to Chicaque Nature Reserve at the 5:30am. This incredible place is located only 1:30 hours away from Bogota. It is a rich ecological and water reserve, located at an altitude of between 2100 – 2700m. It presents the type of subandino and Andean forest with plants like ferns, orchids, mosses, palms, oaks and abundant bushes due to the humidity of the reserve. It has more than 300 ha, becoming the home of more than 150 species of birds.
We are here for to observe the enigmatic Golden bellied starfronlet and other targets birds here in the hummingbird feeders: Tourmaline sunangel, White bellied woodstar, Sparkling, Lesser Violetear Hummingbird, White collared inca and Mountain velvetbrest in an incredible cloud forest in the western slope of the eastern Andes.
Targets: Emerald Toucanet; lesser Violetear, Buff-tailed Coronet, Booted Racket-tail, Streak-necked Flycatcher, Rufous-crowned Tody-Tyrant, Golden-faced Tyrannulet, Azara´s Spinetail, Ash-browed Spinetail, rufous Spinetail, Montane Foliage-gleaner, Streaked Xenops, Rufous-browed Peppershrike, Black-billed Peppershrike, rufous browed conebill, Brown-capped Vireo, Rufous-naped greenlet, Crimson-backed Tanager, Blue-grey Tanager, Palm Tanager, Blue-capped Tanager , Fawn-breasted Tanager, Golden Tanager, Flame-faced Tanager.
Afternoon.
We will have lunch in the restaurant of the Natural Reserve. Afterwards we will continue walking along the trails to observe other target birds as Golden-bellied Starfrontlet, blackish Tapaculo, Golden-fronted Whitestart, Rufous-breasted Flycatcher, Moustached Brush-Finch, Flavescens Flycatcher, Brown-billed Scytebill, Flamefaced Tanager, Smoky Bush-Tyrant, Grass-green Tanager, Andean Pygmy-Owl, Glowing Puffleg, Palen-naped Brush-Finch, Streak-capped Treehunter, Strong-billed Woodcreeper, hummingbird feeders and many more.
Return to Bogota D.C. in the afternoon (Around 5:00pm)
