ENJOY AND DISCOVERY THE BIRDWATCHING IN THE LAGUNA DE PEDRO PALO NATURE RESERVE, TENA - CUNDINAMARCA
Morning (5:00am).
We will depart to Laguna de Pedro Palo Nature Reserve at the 5:00am. This incredible place is located only one hour and half away from Bogota. Presents an ecosystem of Subandean Forest, in which several types of vegetation are identified: Oak forests (Quercus humboltii); Mixed Sub – Andean Forests that have overcome processes of intervention and selective selection of timber species, in which the most representative species of the arboreal stratum are Cedro (Cedrela montana), Amarillo (Nectandra sp., Ocotea sp.); Encenillo (Weinmannia tomentosa), Rubber (Ficus sp.); Alder (Alnus acuminata); Laurel (Myrica sp.); Yarumos (Cecropia sp.) Cucharos (Ardisia sp.), Pedro Hernández (Toxicodendron acuminata), Romeron Pine (Decusocarpus rospigliosi), Sauce (Salix sp.) and Walnut (Juglans neotropica). The reserve is located between 2000 – 2280m.
Endemic Birds: Black Inca, Turquoise Dacnis, Silvery-throated Spinetail, Indigo-capped Hummingbird.
Near-Endemic Birds: Scrub Tanager, Bar-crested Antshrike, Spectacled Parrotlet.
Other target birds: Is possible to observe inside Pedro Palo Lagoon Nature Reserve: Tropical Screech-Owl, Andean Pygmy-Owl, White-necked Jacobin, Green Hermit, Brown Violetear, Lesser Violetear, Sparkling Violetear, Purple-crowned Fairy, Black-throated Mango, Tourmaline Sunangel, Speckled Hummingbird, Longtailed Sylph, Collared Inca, Mountain Velvetbreast, Great Sapphirewing, Booted Racket-tail, White-bellied Woodstar, Gorgeted Woodstar, Red-billed Emerald, Short-tailed Emerald, Great Tinamou, Colombian Chachalaca, Andean Guan, Sickle-winged Guan, Masked Trogon, Andean Motmot and many more birds!!!
